Hello all! My name is Rachel and this is my first blog page. Please allow me to tell you a little about myself. I am a graphic design major at Stevenson University. I have always had a huge interest in art and all throughout grade school I took as many art classes as would fit into my schedule. I was even an art department aide in my senior year of high school, and I loved it! The aide job mostly consisted of making tons of copies for the teachers, but there were a few odd jobs that were delightfully art-related such as designing the art department bulletin board (I also designed every single bulletin board in the science department in my jr and sr years) and repainting a few old frames that looked like they belonged in an art museum! I was in the National Art Honor Society and Science National Honor Society in high school, and am working on becoming an inducted member of my university’s National Honor Society. I love all kinds of art except for oil pastels, but my favorite medium is probably wire sculpture. I’ve made a few wire fish scuptures as well as a wire model of a spider-themed chair. I also use wire when making my jewelry-another of my art-related hobbies. I love to sew and have been taking sewing classes since I was very little. I can sew using patterns, but I can also make clothing without patterns, as long as I am making it for myself or someone who is constantly around for a random fitting. I do not have as much time to sew anymore as I’d like, though. I hope to sew more after college. I work at my local Macys, and I love it (awesome employee discount!!). I have 3 cats; Dixie, Lucky, and Poto; and I love them to death. I love movies-particularly those of the horror genre- and love to read. This semester I am taking a web design class, and I basically am hoping to leave the course knowing enough about web design that I can make a website on my own and I hope to find it fun, as I know that is a good field I could get into in the future if I know what I am doing and enjoy it.
